We walked nursery owners and managers through practical monitoring techniques for plant nurseries, the fundamentals of implementing IPM programs, and talked about how pest and disease management can be improved through the use of biological control products and good housekeeping practices. These presentations took place in the Northern Australian centres of Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Darwin, Alice Springs, Kununurra, and Broome across three weeks.

The NGIA & Biological Services will be rolling out a benchmarking project for IPM and pest/disease monitoring in key businesses throughout Australia over the next two years. This project will assist to promote regular surveillance, standardise monitoring, and pest control decision making. A key component will be the education of how to reduce the reliance on residually toxic chemicals by promoting hygiene and beneficial organisms for biological control where appropriate.
