Our commitment to shifting Australian farming approaches towards a more sustainable future also extends to the way we plan and manage our business.
We produce the biological control agents in our insectaries in Loxton (South Australia) and Muchea (Western Australia). We grow a range of crops and then introduce key pests in a controlled way so we can rear and harvest the beneficials for growers.
We have identified the main environmental impacts of our operations as energy, water, transport, building, and waste. We continue to focus on reducing our environmental footprint, including sourcing sustainable packaging for our products.
Contributing through our work
We achieve our greatest environmental impact through our work.
We assist growers to use fewer pesticides with a focus on establishing growing ecosystems that mimic nature.
Our strategies to reduce environmental impacts include:
Using our knowledge to rear beneficial insects to control key pests in indoor and outdoor horticultural crops
Designing IPM programs for each grower that suits their region, crop, problem and farm
Providing advice and on-site crop monitoring to maintain a balance of beneficials rather than regular broad-spectrum pesticides
Recommending approaches where pesticides are required that are safer for beneficial organisms.
We also continue to advocate for non-commercial benefits to the environment and human health of Integrated Pest Management to growers, and industry and government leaders related to less chemical use.
