IPM Consultant and Team Leader, Adelaide Plains

Anita Marquart’s career spans many countries, starting in her country of origin, Germany where she studied Biology at the University of Jena, majoring in Entomology, Ecology and Genetics.

She worked as a researcher in Applied Entomology at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences at the ETH Zurich in Switzerland where she studied the behaviour of parasitic wasps. In 2013, Anita moved to Australia to obtain a PhD in Ecology/Entomology at the University of Adelaide. After completing her degree, she joined the Biological Services team as an IPM Consultant in 2018 and stepped into the Adelaide Plains Team Leader position in 2023.

Anita works with a variety of greenhouse crops, as well as open-field crops like berries and brassicas. She loves hot summer weather, tomato crops without whiteflies and saying hello to all the dogs she meets during her farm visits.
